Chihuly's Beautiful Glass - Part 1
Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 11:01 PM
Hey there,
OK it's Chihuly TIME!!!! Well Chihuly Part 1 of 2, have to stretch the excitment out. LOL Damn I'm a cornball. LOL Oh well. These are some of the pics from my vacation in St. Louis with ktownbear. We had so much fun. These are from the Missouri Botanical Garden they were having "Chihuly glass in the garden a 6 month exibit running through October. I love Dale Chihuly's art. I've seen several of his programs on tv. Saw a few of his thing in Seattle. He was born in Tacoma Washington, he has a studio in Seattle and is one of the most famous or the most famous glass blowers in the world. I first learned about his stuff through my friend "M" from Seattle. They have over 50 pieces of Chihuly's glass on display at the gardens. Some of them, unfortunately were only available in the one night a week "nights in the garden" exibit(would love to see all that glass lit up). The collection itself is inspired by Dale's monther's love of plants. Chihuly's works is displayed in over 200 museum collections worldwide. The gardens themselves were so amazing and I'll post some pics later on that, but the glass was so beautiful. It was a beautiful day to be there also. Here goes.

This first one is probably my favorite besides the chandelier that was in the entry way. The pics I took of it did not come out unfortunately. But this first one is called Polyvitro Crystals it was amazing with the sun shining on it.

This second one was amazing. There were two of them on both sides of the Rose area it was called Gladney Rose Garden Trellises in the garden there was actually a rose named after Chihuly called The Chihuly Rose and there was a bed of them in the rose garden. A very unique orangish yellow centered rose with a dark red encased. Very pretty.

This next ones are called Walla Walla Onions. A perfect name from the onion from the state of Washington. There were several of them throughout the garden.

This one is just called Boat. During preperations in Finland for the "Chihuly Over Venice" project(which I saw on tv. AMAZING), the team found a partially submerged wooden rowboat and Chihully filled it so that it was overflowing with glass. It was very pretty.

OK one more for tonight. This one was breath taking really. I loved the area it was in and how they had it displayed. It was a walk to get to. It was in the Japanese section of the garden. It's called the Japanese Bridge Chandelier. I would have loved to have seen this one lit up at night. I bet it even more pretty lit up.

OK that is the first half. Hope you like. More to come soon. You can read more about Dale Chihuly on his website if you would like www.chihuly.com Thanks for uhm viewing I guess this time.

Hugs,
B
